The Ghosts of Christmas
Activity One:
Compare and Contrast the Ghost of Christmas Past and Present.
In this activity, you will explore matching texts—novels and the movies adapted from them—to develop your analytical strategies.
You will use graphic organizers (Venn Diagram) to draw comparisons about the appearance of the ghosts in the movie as is compares to the description of the ghost in the novel, and the effect of of the visiting ghost on the main character.
You will analyze the differences between the two versions by citing specific adaptations in the film version, indicating the effect of each adaptation on the story, and deciding if you felt the change had a positive effect on the overall story.
You will then design a new DVD or Book cover showing how you view the ghosts. Be detailed in your drawing, be sure to include enough evidence in your picture to show that you understood the context of the scenes in which the ghosts appeared and the setting.
You will present your Venn Diagram and Book Cover to the class.
